Hyun Bin (born Kim Tae-pyung on September 25, 1982) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his leading roles in the television dramas My Name Is Kim Sam-soon (2005), The World That They Live In (2008) and Secret Garden (2010-2011).

Hyun first starred in Nonstop 4 and quirky romance drama Ireland . [2] He shot to stardom with the 2005 romantic comedy series My Name Is Kim Sam-soon with Kim Sun-a . Sam-soon was a massive hit with average ratings of over 37% and 50.5% for the finale, [3] for which Hyun won the Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards .

Mainstream success eluded Hyun in the next few years. His first film as a lead actor A Millionaire's First Love (written by internet novelist Guiyeoni ) did not do well commercially, and neither did TV melodrama The Snow Queen . Hyun began choosing more eclectic projects, such as 2008's The World That They Live In , which was well-received for Noh Hee-kyung 's writing. He then starred in romance film I Am Happy , which was the closing film at the 2008 Busan International Film Festival . [4] [5] In 2009, Hyun drew critical acclaim in his portrayal a sociopath in the gangster saga Friend, Our Legend , reportedly watching Kwak Kyung-taek 's original film 20 to 30 times. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12]

He experienced a resurgence of fame in 2010 with Secret Garden , a romantic fantasy written by Kim Eun-sook . [13] [14] The drama brought in 30% ratings and garnered much interest regarding its fashion, catchphrases and music, and Hyun was recognized at the 2010 SBS Drama Awards and the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards for his stellar performance. [15] [16] He also contributed to the soundtrack of the drama with "That Man", which peaked at number one in eight Korean music portals. [17] [18] [19]

In 2011, Hyun starred in two films; Come Rain, Come Shine (directed by Lee Yoon-ki ) and and Late Autumn (directed by Kim Tae-yong ). Shot in Seattle , Late Autumn was an English-language remake of the 1966 Lee Man-hee classic, in which Hyun played a man on the run who falls in love with a woman who is on special leave from prison (Chinese actress Tang Wei ). [20] [21] [22] [23] It became the highest grossing Korean film released in China to date, taking in more than US$9.5 million over two weeks, which was unprecedented for a melodrama. [24] He received a good review from The Hollywood Reporter which stated, "It is Hyun who impresses more for not underplaying the dandy, narcissistic side of his personality." [25]

Hyun walked the red carpet at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival where the two films screened [26] [27] [28] He described the honor as his "happiest achievement." [29] [30]

After the merger of their former agency AM Entertainment with SM Entertainment , [31] Hyun's reps announced in November 2012 that the actor and Shin Min-ah had decided to go independent and set up their own management agency O& Entertainment. [32] Hyun then spent most of 2013 shooting commercials as an in-demand product endorser, [33] [34] [35] [36] and holding fan meetings all over Asia. [37]

K-celebs’ red carpet looks always left me scratching my head. I don’t understand how they always looked so good in dramas yet frequently looking hideous on the red carpets. Hyun Bin looks mighty fine and despite having a forever soft spot for Kang Ji Hwan, I cannot accept that weird blonde locks on him. His ensemble is great but blonde just won’t do for him.

No, no, no! Cha Seung Won and Hyun Bin cannot be in the same drama. I know I’ll definitely suffer from serious case of second lead syndrome whoever that it if it happens.

most actors/actress should sack their stylist as they look hideous in those outfit esp joo won, he even had stains on his garment..and what happened to his face. he look different not in a good way? PS maybe?

I don’t know if it’s because there are so many dull and talentless actresses out there but when I watch a great talent like  Kim Sun Ah , I cannot but bow in respect – biased as I am.

I don’t know what she’s up to now and I miss her badly. I’m positive though that whatever role she’ll take will be great. Maybe we’ll see her in a sageuk or medical! Amen!

If there is an actor or an actress that is worthy of a Stalker's Guide in your opinion, and you have watched enough dramas of his/hers to prove it, please contact  Elisabetta about it.

Silly, shallow, careless, and ugly on the outside. Talented, caring, intelligent, and ambitious on the inside. Kim Sun Ah plays Shin Mi Rae who is the queen of part-time jobs and a low-ranking clerk whose only job is to make coffee for the other employees. As her path crosses the genius and ambitious politician, Jo Gook (Cha Seung Won), the inner dreamer surfaces. Not tolerating injustice and standing to her rights; Shin Mi Rae presents to Jo Gook a potential politician. After he paves the way for her thinking she’d become a pawn he can move wherever he likes, net4korean.com Mi Rae proves an independent and wise leader.

what a well written article on such a beloved actress! This article made me realize four things: #1: Kim Sun Ah needs to come back to the kdrama world ASAP, #2: Kim Sun Ah co-starred with Gong Yoo in two movies, #3: Gong Yoo needs to get himself back to the kdrama world ASAP, & #4: Kim Sun Ah and Gong Yoo need to act together in a kdrama together ASAP! This needs to happen! Plain and simple.

I'm agree with Gong Yoo too, she never been in drama with him and his facial more mature now not as cute as in she's on duty, and that would be perfect...or reunite with Hyun bin???

She is amazing. I've seen all the dramas and loved them but I need to try and find her films. Thanks for the article. I'll be watching those films soon.
